Visits
This town is unique for it's wonderfully preserved architecture, old quarters, ancient hôtels & tiny streets & squares. A lot of premises in the old quarter house shops & workplaces of craftsmen now, & you can watch them work, & marvel at their skills & products. In addition to daytime opening, they are also open Wednesday & Friday evenings.
There is also a large traditional market not to be missed every Saturday 9-18 H.
Molière spent time there, and every year, (April - September) the tourism Office ( 04 67 98 36 40 ) organises many cultural events - folk dancing, plays, concerts, street entertainment & open-air theatre in the town's park, streets & squares .
There are year - round exhibitions at the Vulliod - Saint - Germain Museum
There is also a wide variety of good restaurants to suit all pockets -- all this within
1km of our camp-site.
Apart from innumerable vineyards to go to & taste the wine, there are many châteaux, abbeys, cathedrals, & picturesque old villages to visit.
BEACHES
Marseillan : Here, 30 mins away, there are 15 kms of fine sand.
Cap d'Agde: a modern tourist town with unusual architecture, It should be visited for it's yacht basins, well -stocked aquarium, Richelieu fort & it's jetty, beaches, golf course etc
It is home to Aqualand & several entertainment parks.
Béziers area : there is a safe , sandy beach at Valras , & another one at Vias. Portiragnes also has a long, natural undeveloped beach & is not far away.
Béziers itself is on the Canal du Midi .You can visit the impressive 9 Staircase locks or take a trip on a barge (hourly,1/2 or all day + meals) Don't miss the marvellous views of,and from, the cathedral of St Nazaire . There is also a very good museum in the town .at the Caserne St .Jacques
If you're interested in bull-fighting, you can't do better than visit Les Arènes,the bull-ring
on the edge of the town.

The Roman Bridge at St Thibéry on the Via Domitia. Castelnau- de- Guers, with it's fine view from the castle could also be visited on the same day.
For enthusiastic walkers, there is the beginning of a very picturesque route at the cave
co-operative.(wine makers cellars) They celebrated getting a 2 star rating in the 2001 Guide Hachette.
